It is a privilege to welcome you to the SEVENTH SPRING FESTIVAL celebrations of the Herricks Indo US Community Inc. being held at the Herricks MIDDLE School at 5 pm on MAY 17TH, 2008.

I greatly appreciate your support for the Herricks Indo-US Community organization. This organization was created for a very specific purpose as outlined in our mission. As members of this community, we share a common vision and that is to ensure that the Herricks school district continues to retain its outstanding reputation, and we, as part of this community, ensure that all members who are of Indian background contribute to the school’s success and participate in community events.

Our primary goal of is to enable our members to understand the workings of the Herricks school system and encourage active participation in it. I do believe that an active involvement in your child’s school makes a lasting difference to the development of your child academically and socially. I strongly urge you to play an active role in your child’s education by volunteering for PTA events, attending PTA meetings to keep abreast of events in school, attending and expressing your opinion at the Board of Education meetings and voting on the school budget.

Our school budget vote is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the Herricks Community Center. We hope all members who are citizens of the USA have registered to vote. Please do register to vote for all elections – national, state and local, including the Herricks School elections, at the Nassau County Board of Elections. To register for Herricks school votes, you may go to the Herricks Community Center at 999-B Herricks Road Monday – Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. anytime before May 15. There is also a special evening registration on Tuesday, May 6 in the Community Center from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
It is important to be knowledgeable about the budget and the items coming up for election. We also have a contested election for the trustee positions in the Board of education. Please do attend a special presentation on May 13, 2008. Click on Event Calendar for details. We hope many members will take advantage of this very special event.
We do encourage all of you to become a member as you are the backbone of this organization. Do consider joining the executive committee and help us plan our events. Please also ensure that your e-mail address is updated and check regularly for announcements.
