Dear HIUS members and guests,
Most parents are the strongest advocates of their
children. Today, as we are being challenged by these
tough economic times, our children’s education
must continue to be a priority. After all, one of
the finest gifts we could give our children is a good
education. Following that thought, most of us migrated
to Herricks because of the quality education in this
school system.
These are testing times for all. Every morning’s
newspaper highlights programs being cut or the school
budget going down somewhere in the Tri-state area.
No matter what the reasons behind them are, they are
detrimental to children and education. The reality
is that this could happen in Herricks too. The choices
we make will directly impact their lives and the quality
of their education.

If you vote NO or chose NOT
to vote, the Budget may fail. The State Education
Department has recently determined that a failed budget
would require us to cut $3,491,000.00 from our budget.
The ramifications of this cut would be disastrous
for our children. Herricks will not be the same again
and it will take us years to recover from this downturn.
